When the engineer on-call cannot explain why the chain is behaving the way it is, they call you. You will serve as the highest technical escalation point across a mission-critical blockchain platform underpinning The Clearing House's On-Chain Money Initiative, a next-generation payments network expected to launch in 2027. You'll be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of a distributed environment spanning the OP Stack, private Besu L1 infrastructure, Overledger Gateway, and Settlement Bridge.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role designed for someone who wants to remain deeply technical rather than move into people management. You'll help shape reliability strategy, production standards, service ownership, release governance, and operational excellence while continuing to participate in the on-call rotation alongside the team. What You'll Do Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex production incidents across blockchain and platform infrastructure.
Lead reliability engineering practices, including incident management, root cause analysis, postmortems, and continuous improvement initiatives. Define and co-own SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, and release-gating standards. Design and improve monitoring, observability, alerting, and operational tooling.
