TBH, the certifications have been of questionable value in my hiring decisions, but they matter for others. But I believe they are a NET good. Because those people who do not know how to do anything, need a starting point. A GOAL. And it's nice to set a goal, like getting certified. Because it tends to drive the motivation to learn. And this is where it gets "interesting", because then you need material to study, and a hint of what to study. I believe this is where [link] helps (and can help). Because someone has to get paid to make all of the study materials, and maintain the testing, etc. It's hard to turn a profit because if the tests are too expensive, nobody gets the certs. It's hard to charge too much for the training materials... Well, because of THEFT (Don't get me started)... So, even companies like Oracle... Make you attend classes. (Or they did 30 years ago when I was using them). Or physical books. Anyways, WE as a community should SUPPORT OAPG, and encourage it. As well as certification. I am HOPING you guys find a way to get "hackers, etc" (people in the community) a chance to take the tests to test them out, but also to see where they stand. Maybe some kind of influencer offer "Take our test, so you can assess it... If you pass, and want the official certification... Pay the fee!" Otherwise commit to assessing the test, the testing process and writing an article, or creating a video about it... For example, right now, I don't know how many people at Cybertec have passed the tests? To which levels. It would be nice to know how to rate myself.. Am I a Pavlo or a Laurenz? Or just a Kirk...
