David Pech, Staff Cloud Ops Engineer, explains how he expanded his Kubernetes prototype to handle customer-specific deployments using a layered Docker approach combined with GitOps workflows. He describes building customer-specific Docker images by starting with a core application image and adding PHP customization files as layers on top. The solution leveraged GitLab CI/CD pipelines and Argo CD to automatically deploy these customized images to separate Kubernetes environments, creating unique URLs for each of the 20+ customers. David implemented a dual repository structure where the core application and each customer's customizations lived in separate Git repositories, allowing developers to commit changes to either and see the results deployed across multiple environments.
