Description
How do EU companies think about dependency on US hyperscalers?
EU-based companies: how are you thinking about dependency on US hyperscalers?
Curious how this is handled in practice across different industries.
For those working in EU-based companies:
* Are most/all of your workloads running on AWS/Azure/GCP?
* Do you have a realistic “Plan B” if you ever had to reduce dependency on a hyperscaler?
* If yes:
* How is it structured?
* Multi-cloud?
* On-prem fallback?
* EU providers?
* Kubernetes/portable infra?
* Data replication only?
* If no:
* Is it because there’s no regulatory/business pressure?
* Or because the operational/financial tradeoffs simply don’t justify it?
Not looking for political takes or marketing answers (Basecamp DHH story) - more interested in real-world operational thinking from DevOps/Platform/Infrastructure teams.
Would especially love to hear perspectives from:
* fintech/banking
* healthcare
* public sector
* SaaS companies
* startups vs enterprises
