Own and drive the entire design process for your area: be the advocate for the user, responsible for the journey from first sketch to shipped feature, and then for monitoring its performance and iterating. Conduct extensive user research to inform design decisions. Iterate on exciting solutions based on received feedback and data. Keep up-to-date with current design trends, techniques, and practices.
