Amazon is seeking a talented, enthusiastic, and motivated Interdisciplinary Senior Systems Engineer to join a dynamic team that provides leadership for concept development, architecture, and design of robotics systems and industrial equipment. This candidate should be motivated to adapt well-tried systems engineer principles into a new and emerging industry. The preferred candidate would have demonstrated experience in robotics, mechatronics, experience with machine safety and/or functional safety standards, and possess excellent communication skills. This position reports directly to the System Architect.<br/><br/>Key job responsibilities<br/>The Senior Interdisciplinary Systems Engineer will: <br/>- Define, expand, and explore the design space for complex, multidisciplinary robotics and automation problems<br/>- Identify and analyze the cross-functional tradeoffs between design alternatives, including impact on performance, schedule, cost, risk, complexity, and scale<br/>- Break down and frame problems using con-ops, use cases, structural/functional decompositions, and other system representations to clarify needs and align technical teams<br/>- Identify design choices to ensure our products are safe, reliable, and usable, and can be deployed and supported at Amazon scale<br/>- Build quantitative models and analyses (Excel, MATLAB, Python, internal tools) to conduct trade studies, refine requirements, and understand key system drivers across the integrated systems of system
