I wanted to share a recent struggle in case anyone has been through something similar. I’m a senior full stack engineer with 10+ years of experience across SaaS, proptech, e commerce, and edtech. I work primarily with React, React Native, Node.js, NestJS, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Prisma, Docker, and AWS, and have recently been building AI features using LLMs, RAG, embeddings, and vector search. A few years ago I was freelancing on Upwork(6+ years) and had several long term clients. Things were stable, so I stepped away from Upwork for a couple of years. When I came back, it felt like I was starting from scratch. My 100% Job Success Score was gone, many postings seemed like scams, and a lot of decent looking jobs required a surprisingly high number of connects just to apply. Since February 2026, I’ve been actively trying to land a remote role. I’ve had a handful of interviews, but none have converted into offers. I’ve also been applying for Bangalore based roles, though my preference is still remote or contract work. To make things more frustrating, LinkedIn restricted my account. I’ve been trying to complete verification, but every Indian document I submitted has failed: Aadhaar, PAN, Driving Licence, and Passport. Losing access to LinkedIn during a job search has honestly been one of the most discouraging parts of this process. I was also accepted into Toptal a couple of weeks ago, which gave me some hope, but I haven’t been able to land a project there yet. At this point I’m mainly looking for remote, contractual, or freelance opportunities. I’m comfortable working independently, joining an existing team, or helping with SaaS platforms, web apps, mobile apps, dashboards, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and AI enabled products using LLMs and RAG architectures.
