Description
About Newcode We build AI tools for firms in legal and professional services: software people use for real work, not demos. We started a few months ago and already have paying clients who rely on what we ship. The team is small and moving fast.
The role
You'll own the infrastructure our AI products run on. That means the cloud environments, the deployment pipelines, and the Kubernetes setup that keeps everything serving reliably under load. A lot of the interesting work is specific to running AI in production: serving models cost-effectively, scaling for uneven demand, and keeping confidential client data properly isolated in a multi-tenant setup.
You're joining early enough to shape how we do this rather than inherit someone else's decisions. You'll set the practices, make the architecture calls, and live with them. Stack Azure, Kubernetes (AKS), Terraform, Helm, GitHub Actions.
Microservices, multi-tenant architecture, infrastructure-as-code throughout. What the job involves Building and running our cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines so deployments are fast, repeatable, and boring. Owning reliability: monitoring, alerting, and the kind of automation that means nobody gets paged for the same thing twice.
Keeping security and tenant isolation tight, since clients trust us with confidential material. Managing the infrastructure behind model serving and AI workloads, including cost and scaling under uneven demand. Working with the engineers shipping features so the path to production stays smooth as the team grows.
Who you are
At least seven years running production infrastructure for web applications. You automate by default and treat manual, one-off fixes as a smell. You think about failure, blast radius, and recovery, not just the deploy that goes well.
You take security and multi-tenant isolation seriously and can reason about where data is allowed to flow. You use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) and use them well. Faster output, but you understand and stand behind every change.
You're fine in a startup that changes direction. Decisions get made, then revisited. Experience we expect with the stack: Terraform: 5+ years Kubernetes (AKS): 5+ years Azure: 3+ years Helm: 3+ years CI/CD, ideally GitHub Actions: 2+ years Microservices and multi-tenant architecture: proven, hands-on track record
Nice to have
Python, enough to write and maintain real tooling rather than just glue scripts PostgreSQL administration: tuning, backups, replication
